Less Stress, More Success – The Power of Planning

The start of a new academic school year is here and it always brings an air of excitement and new beginnings. But on the flip side of that, it can also be pretty hectic and bring on some anxiety. Whether you’re in school, have  kids in school or embarking on a new chapter in your life this is the perfect time to get (re)organized. We all have goals and a list of things we want to accomplish. That’s why important to create and have a plan in place so that you can set yourself up for success to crush your new goals and finish the year off strong!

I’ve always been a person that loves structure and schedules. I’m so grateful my parents got me involved in extra curricular activities and sports at a young age because it instilled in me the discipline that has helped me get to where I am today. While I understand the need for spontaneity and not being so rigid, I’ve found that I’m the most successful when I have structure and a plan in place…especially when things get hectic. So I wanted to share with you a few ways how The Power of Planning works for me!

3 Easy Ways to Get Organized for Success

1. Get a planner – And use it! Not a digital one either but one that you can actually write in. There’s power in writing things down. It makes it real. There’s also something about being able to physically cross something off of your to-do list. It makes you feel so much more accomplished. Or is that just me?! Lol Whichever you choose, written or digital is just a preference, but having everything in one place does make staying on track and completing task easier.

2. Make a list – List things in the order of importance that they need to get done. Carve out a certain time limit for each task and when the time is up, move on to the next. Continue this process until you’ve completed your list! Don’t forget to add in your workouts and grocery shopping!!

3. Take it one day, one task at a time – much to do and only 24 hours to do it. And while some people are great at multitasking, I’ve found it’s better to be present and in the moment with each task. By staying focused on the task at hand, you’re able to do away with distractions, make more use of your time, and have a less hectic day….i.e….be more productive. So don’t try to do it all in one day, you’ll drive yourself crazy. Remember, one day, one task, breathe and repeat!

Having a plan in place helps to do away with unnecessary stress that’s caused by not being prepared. These are just a few ways that I’ve been able to make my days less stressful and more productive.

I hope you find these tips as useful as I do. Now get to planning, being productive and crushing those goals!
